Caring for Your Watch Through the Seasons

Meridian & Co. Journal

Mechanical watches are more sensitive to their environment than most owners expect. In summer, avoid leaving a watch on a sun-warmed dashboard or windowsill, since prolonged heat can dry out the lubricants inside the movement.

In colder months, let a watch that has been outside return to room temperature before opening the case-back, to avoid condensation.

If a watch will sit unworn for more than a few weeks, wind it fully and set it aside face-up rather than leaving it wound down indefinitely, which can affect the mainspring over time.
